The pen is mightier...

...than a keyboard. Well, for me, at least.

Finishing my current WIP has been tough. In the final stages, I've resorted to pen and paper--my ever-faithful 'Block' buster. Although I'm not finished yet, today has been one of those rare sweet days where the words are just flying onto the page. My hand aches from writing. I just can't keep up with all those delicious words and ideas.

What a buzz! I've just done a little happy dance of delight. I couldn't help myself. :)

Okay, so most of what I've written will be rubbish, but I know there's enough material there to construct something fairly decent, to get me to where I want to be.

I'm drunk, and without a sip of booze. How do you get through the tough days of writerly constipation?

  1. Hi Nicola! You see me lurking on your site... so happy to hear the writing's going well, since your fans (including me) are waiting. : ) But yes, I agree that there are productive days and days where it's better to do anything but write. Stranegely, I often write well with complete chaos around me (e.g. my kids thinking because I'm on teh computer they can start a full-fledged soccer game in the house, when I look very much like this cartoon.) Happy writing!!

  2. Hey, Kimberly :)

Yes, it's very strange how the writerly gland seems to thrive in a chaotic environment.
On rainy days, I take my kids to an indoor play area. The sort of place that echoes with the shrieks of dozens of cabin-fevered kids. I'll sit there and happily write a dozen pages in between guard/nurse/feeding/toilet duty.
Don't worry, Martha return on Wednesday. Shout out if you see any wooden/2D behaviour! :)
