Desert Island Books...

I firmly believe the old adage is true: You can tell a lot about someone from the books they have on their shelves.

Okay, see what you learn about me from a list of my favourite books. ('Favourite' means I have read the book a half a dozen times or more. I have to be strict with myself here, otherwise my list would go on forever!)

  1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
  2. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  3. Persuasion by Jane Austen
  4. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
  5. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
There you go. Any insights you wanna share? Go for it. :)

  1. Yes to all the Austen. No Heyer on there? I reread Georgette Heyer almost as much as Austen. I have never read Jane Eyre *hangs head in shame* Must I?

  2. Hey, Rachel :)

Good to see you! You haven't read Jane Eyre?!* Well, if you like heroes and she-roes who are strong but far from perfect you might like this one.

The film versions always annoy me because Jane is supposed to be plain, and Mr Rochester is written as...not exactly ugly, but a pretty boy he ain't. I think Orson Wells was probably the best casting of Rochester I've seen.

I have a confession too. I haven't read Georgette Heyer. Not once. Tell you what, if you read Jane Eyre, I'll borrow a GH from the library. Deal? :)
