Anselm the Cover Guy!

A strange flu-like illness has descended on our household this weekend, leaving yours truly feeling even more woolly headed than usual!
But, as they say, a back cover blurb waits for no one.
(Actually, no one has said that... not ever! That just came from my fingers.)
Even with a pounding headache, aching eyeballs, and a distinctly dodgy temperature, my personal show MUST go on.
On a more positive note, Anselm is loving his shiny new cover! He was born to be a cover guy, or so he keeps telling me!
For those of you who haven't already seen it, here's a wee peek to whet your appetite.

Back Blurb Bother...

Ancient Writerly Proverb:

It is easier to write a novel than it is to compose a halfway decent back cover blurb.

If you don't believe me and think I'm making a great fuss over nothing, I have a challenge for you:

Think of your favourite novel.

Got it?

Okay.

Without cheating (ie: going to have a crafty look at the back cover of your chosen book!), write a blurb of 150 words or so that encapsulates the main plot line but without revealing anything vital. Oh, and your blurb has to be tempting enough to lure a potential reader into opening the book.

Give it a go and see how you get on.

It's been a sad month here in Blighty...

First Lemmy, then Bowie, now Alan Rickman's gone too. So sad.

There's a tweet doing the rounds at the moment urging us to form a protective circle around Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, and it got me thinking.

If it were possible to protect our dwindling 'legends' in a circle, who would YOU save?

Me? It would have to be Bill Shatner. Okay, so he's not a Brit, but he's definitely a real treasure.

Anselm's Book Has Left The Building...

... Yes. That's right. I actually made my editing deadline. Go me!

Which gives me time to clear out my writerly tubes before the next round of edits. The best way to do this, I've found, is to read something from a totally different genre. It's so refreshing!

Here's my current read:  The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul by Deborah Rodriguez. And a darn fine read it is too.
